# Billing

> Manage your subscription, payment methods, and AI credits

Kasava offers flexible pricing plans to match your team's needs. Manage your subscription from the Billing settings.

## Accessing Billing

To access your billing settings:

1. Click your **avatar** in the sidebar
2. Select **Settings**
3. Click **Billing** in the left navigation

## Plans

Kasava offers three plans designed for different needs:

### Free

Perfect for small teams and evaluation:

## AI Credits

Kasava uses a credit-based system for AI-powered features like chat, code analysis, and document generation.

### How Credits Work

| Conversion    | Rate                       |
| ------------- | -------------------------- |
| Base Rate     | 300 credits = \$1 USD      |
| Input Tokens  | 1 credit per 1,000 tokens  |
| Output Tokens | 5 credits per 1,000 tokens |

<Tip>
  Credits are always rounded **down** in your favor. If you use 999 tokens, that's 0 credits, not 1.
</Tip>

### Credit Balance

The **Credit Balance** card on your Billing page shows:

* **Current balance** - Credits available to use
* **Monthly allocation** - Credits included with your plan
* **Credit sources** - Breakdown by source (subscription, purchased, promotional)

### Buying Additional Credits

Need more credits? Purchase refill packs with volume bonuses:

| \$25   | 8,000   | +7% bonus      |
| \$50   | 16,000  | +7% bonus      |
| \$100  | 35,000  | +17% bonus     |

To purchase credits:

    Complete the checkout via Stripe

### Auto-Refill (Pro and Enterprise)

Ensure you never run out of credits by enabling automatic refills:

    Toggle the "Enable auto-refill" switch
  </Step>

    Configure when to trigger a refill (e.g., when balance drops to 500 credits)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Refill Amount">
    Select the refill package ($10, $25, $50, or $100)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set Spending Cap (Optional)">
    Optionally limit monthly auto-refill spending
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save Settings">
    Click "Save Changes"
  </Step>

<Note>
  Auto-refill is only available on Professional and Enterprise plans. A valid payment method is required.
</Note>

## Free Trial

New users can start a **14-day free trial** of the Professional plan:

    Click "Start 14-Day Free Trial"

    Get complete access to all Professional features for 14 days

### Trial Details

* **Duration**: 14 days from activation
* **Access**: Full Professional plan features
* **No card required**: Start your trial without entering payment details
* **Cancel anytime**: No obligation to continue after the trial

<Note>
  Free trials are one-time per organization. After your trial ends, you'll need to subscribe to continue using paid features.
</Note>

## Current Plan

When you have an active subscription, the Billing page displays:

### Plan Card

Shows your current plan name and monthly cost per seat.

### Status Card

Displays whether your subscription is:

* **Active** - Subscription in good standing
* **Trial** - Currently in a free trial period
* **Cancellation pending** - Set to cancel at period end

### Billing Card

Shows your next payment date and whether auto-renewal is enabled.

## Usage Metrics

The **Usage** section shows your current consumption against plan limits:

| Repositories  | Connected GitHub repositories |
| Storage       | Document storage used         |
| Max File Size | Largest file you can upload   |
| AI Credits    | Credits consumed this period  |

Each metric displays:

* Current usage / Limit
* Visual progress bar
* Percentage used

<Tip>
  When usage approaches limits (80%+), you'll see warning indicators. Consider upgrading your plan before reaching 100%.
</Tip>

## Subscription Management

### Upgrading Your Plan

<Steps>

    Go to Settings → Billing

  <Step title="Find Desired Plan">
    Scroll to the Available Plans section
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Subscribe or Upgrade">
    Click the action button on your chosen plan
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete Checkout">
    Enter payment details via Stripe
  </Step>
</Steps>

Upgrades take effect immediately. You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your billing period.

### Downgrading Your Plan

1. Navigate to Settings → Billing
2. Click on a lower-tier plan
3. Confirm the downgrade

<Warning>
  Downgrading may disable features and reduce limits. Review what's included in each plan before downgrading. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.

### Managing Your Subscription

Click **Manage Subscription** in the Payment Methods section to:

* Update your payment method
* View billing history
* Download invoices
* Cancel subscription

This opens the Stripe Customer Portal where you can manage all aspects of your subscription.

## Canceling Your Subscription

To cancel:

1. Go to Settings → Billing
2. Click **Manage Subscription** in Payment Methods
3. In the Stripe portal, click **Cancel subscription**
4. Confirm cancellation

After cancellation:

* You retain access until the current billing period ends
* Your data is preserved
* You can resubscribe anytime

## Limits and Overages

### What Happens at Limits

When you reach plan limits:

| Resource     | Behavior                                        |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------- |
| Repositories | Cannot connect additional repos                 |
| Storage      | Cannot upload new files                         |
| AI Credits   | AI features unavailable until reset or purchase |
| Sync Events  | Sync operations paused until reset              |

### Free Plan Quotas

Free plan users have monthly quotas for AI features:

| Plan Generation     | 5             |
| Bug Analysis        | 10            |
| Document Processing | 5             |
| Code Analysis       | 20            |
| Commit Analysis     | 50            |

<Note>
  When you exceed a quota on the Free plan, that feature is blocked until the next monthly reset. Upgrade to Professional for unlimited access to all AI features.
</Note>

## Troubleshooting

    Check that your card details are correct and you have sufficient funds. Try a different payment method or contact your bank.

  <Accordion title="Credits not appearing after purchase">
    Credit purchases may take a few moments to process. Refresh the Billing page. If credits don't appear within 5 minutes, contact [support@kasava.io](mailto:support@kasava.io).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Cannot access features after upgrade">
    Try signing out and back in, or refresh the page. Feature access should update immediately after upgrade confirmation.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Need a refund">
    Contact [support@kasava.io](mailto:support@kasava.io) within 30 days of charge. Refunds are processed within 5-10 business days.
